Government Officials Complete English Training

At a ceremony on 27 March 2015 at Vientiane College, Clemency Oliphant, First Secretary at the Australian Embassy presented certificates to thirty government officials from ten ministries and government agencies who completed a six month Government of Laos Professional English Language Training (GOLPET) course funded by the Laos Australia Institute. Read more

Australian Alumni Discuss Trade and ASEAN Integration

Vientiane, 6 June —Almost 100 people including Australian scholarships Alumni and leaders in the trade and business sectors gathered to have a frank and open discussion on the challenges and issues around a changing trade environment as Laos prepares for a the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.  The Workshop on “Managing for a Changing Trade Environment” was held on Friday evening at the Settha Palace Hotel, organised by the Australian Alumni group, with support from the Australian Embassy and the Laos Australia Institute. Australia Awards Screening Test.

“280 eligible candidates sat for the Australia Awards Screening Test on Wednesday 21 May 2014 at the International Cooperation Training Centre in Vientiane.

The shortlist for interview will be available at the Laos Australia Institute and on the website (www.australiaawardslaos.org) on Thursday 29 May 2014.

Interviews, for those who are shortlisted, will be conducted from 2 – 6 June 2014.”

 Applications for Australian Endeavour Scholarships or Fellowships are now open.

Australian mindset leads to business success

With the life experiences and knowledge gained while studying Bachelor degree of International Business at Swinburne University in Melbourne under an Australia Awards Scholarship from 1997 to 2000, Thepphasone Xaixana (Touk), a successful woman entrepreneur, runs New Link Lao, distributing Revlon, Vitamilk (soy milk) and Glico Pocky. Her three businesses employ more than 70 people in Laos, including many young ones who do not have opportunity to continue to higher education. Read more
